Richmond upon thames river

Visiting the area or local and not sure what to do?

Well you’re in luck because Richmond Upon Thames being one of the best and greenest boroughs of London brings you plenty of entertainment for a sunny or rainy day.

Let’s begin!

River Walk

One of the best features our area has is the fact you can access stunning river walks from anywhere! Whether you are beginning in Teddington Lock, Hampton Court or up in Kew, brace yourself for stunning views (and a couple of pints) as you make your way along the River Thames.

With easily accessible paths the whole way perfect for walking, cycling or bringing the dog, anyone can manage the trip without needing to worry about a tough hike.

Recommendation: Bring your camera and grab a snap from the iconic Richmond Hill at the start or end of your walk!

Cinema

Rainy day keeping you indoors? Spend it watching the big screen instead with a trip to one of our local cinemas! You can visit the Odeon or Curzon in Richmond, screening the newest Hollywood blockbusters and throwbacks. Perfect for all ages you can easily make a day of it all.

Foodie Adventure

There’s no secret about it, Richmond borough is FULL of delicious bites.

Whether you are feeling like a greasy spoon or some fine dining delights, there's plenty of places to tuck into along the way. Starting in Teddington, you can grab a meal (or take a look at our recommendations here!) and make your way along the river to Twickenham where the infamous Church Street lies.

Ted Lasso Tour

As many of us know, TVs favourite football manager Ted Lasso was filmed in our very own Richmond! It has become such a phenom that there is even a shop dedicated to the program with his local pub on Richmond Green frequently packed. You can visit all the different filming locations used, grab a pint at his local spot and take a walk along the many filming locations across the borough.

P.S. If you haven’t watched the programme already - start now!

Live Sports

Home of England rugby what more do you need!

Get in the action and grab yourself a ticket to either an England rugby game or a visit to the stoop, where you can catch the infamous Harlequins!

More of a football fan? Well, you’re in luck.

Just a short 5 min walk from Kew, you can find yourself at our local premier league side Brentford stadium! With many stopping off for a pint and meal in Kew first, it’s the perfect day out to get in the spirit with the local community.

Alternatively, you can support even more local at Hampton & Richmond football club. Join some of the loyal legend fans there and help back the team in the new season.

Coffee Shop Tour

Left right and centre there seems to be new coffee shops opening up and if you’re like me, I don't mind at all!

As a coffee lover with a sweet tooth, the thought of visiting a series of coffee shops and getting a taste from each sounds like a great day out.

Pair this with a walk along the Thames, you’re sure to have a fantastic time even if you’re flying solo.

Shopping

We all love a spot of shopping and fortunately for us Richmond centre has it all. Take a slow stroll along the high street where you can discover a range of shops selling clothes, furniture, toys, tech and more.

If you’re looking for more vintage items, a trip to Teddington high street will help you to discover a range of charity shops for all.

And as a bonus, the more you shop local, the more it helps our high streets thrive!

Boating

An obvious yet usually forgotten one is boating! Grab a kayak, paddleboard, motorboat or anything in between and enjoy a truly relaxing yet beautiful trip along the Thames. Perfect on a sunny summers day or for people looking to get into Watersports, make sure you give it a go at least once (we promise, it’s worth it).
